The National Council of Social Service (NCSS), with the support of MSF, MND, BCA, HDB, LTA, NParks, SGEnable and URA, is launching a public education initiative on accessible parking lots which will run from end May to December 2015. The initiative reminds drivers to be gracious by not parking at accessible parking lots as they are for the persons who truly need them – persons with disabilities.

WHY

Persons who require bulky mobility aids (e.g. wheelchairs) face many barriers in their daily travels, one of which is getting in and out of vehicles at parking lots. Accessible parking lots provide more space for movement in and out of vehicles cars and are reserved only for persons with physical disabilities – as shown by the Car Park Labels on their vehicles. However, some drivers may not be aware that they are severely inconveniencing persons with physical disabilities when they take up the accessible parking lots .

WHAT

The public education initiative consists of 30-second radio ads, and publicity banners and posters island-wide. The radio ads were aired on four MediaCorp channels in the four main languages during end-May.

We look forward to your support on this campaign.

For enquiries on the use of the accessible parking lots, please email public_edu@sgenable.sg or call 1800 8585 885.
